Some of you have started to read The Cuckoo’s Calling for your second book. This week we are going to be discussing a concept central to that novel. Cormoran Strike, the main character in The Cuckoo’s Calling is both a veteran of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as an amputee. Strike is not just those things, but both of these qualities help shape who he is and his viewpoint in the novel. In connection to these topics of veterans and disability, please answer the following questions about the TED talk “Our Lonely Society Makes It Hard to Come Home from War” by Sebastian Junger.
