I need a position paper “MLA”. the topic is about “Should the state of Florida Increase the funds for the university of South Florida”. My position is yes. and these are my claims.
The position statement: the state of Florida should increase the funding for USF.
The claims:
Increased funding would increase the economy of Florida (using a comparison between Florida and Michigan).
– Florida state is currently the eighteenth largest economy in the country, while Michigan is the thirteenth (as reported by WalletHub (Links to an external site.)).
– State funding for University of Michigan (Links to an external site.)is larger (per the size of the institution) than the University of South Florida’s (Links to an external site.).
– The University of Michigan is ranked at number two within all public universities in the U.S., while the University of South Florida is ranked at seventy-four (Links to an external site.).
opposite claim:
A claim that could be used against my argument would be that the University of South Florida is not the largest school in Florida (that would be the University of Florida) and so should not be compared to the University of Michigan in the same way. I would rebut by saying that the University of Florida is as large and popular of a school as the University of Michigan is in Michigan because of state funding. The University of Florida is a more popular University because it is more properly funded by not only the state but by successful alumni. To produce successful alumni, a school must first be properly funded.
Use these claims and provide evidence for each claim. As well include refutation for the opposite claim.
