Natasha ST. Etienne
Good Morning Professor and Classmates,
I remember being in high school, always pretending to be someone else because I felt like I wasn’t “cool” enough or that I wouldn’t have any friends if I didn’t dress a certain way or act a certain way. I remember this being like a full time job, constantly trying to be someone I wasn’t and worrying about how I was perceived. This affected my grades because I was so focused on pleasing people and making friends. My grades started to slip, and I almost didn’t graduate because of it.
Looking back now, I realized that trying to be someone I definitely wasn’t could have cost me my high school diploma, and It definitely wasn’t worth it. If I had the chance to go back and do it all over again, I would focus on my studies and make sure I got better grades so that I wouldn’t have to worry whether I was gonna graduate or not. It could have saved me a lot of stress and I realize how silly it was for me to pretend to be someone I wasn’t.
