I’m trying to learn for my Political Science class and I’m stuck. Can you help?
The current administration’s policy of staffing and firing members of the bureaucracy has revealed some interesting things about the way the executive carries out this process (e.g. appointing people without experience to head departments, appointing people in an acting capacity so that senate confirmation is not required, firing people for what appear to be partisan or personal reasons (like inspector generals), etc.). Do you think the government needs to create clearer guidelines about what is acceptable in appointing and firing members of the bureaucracy? Why or why not?
