For example the rustic farm ware styles from Korea and Japan are very different in both form and surface ware from the wares of the Qing dynasty in China. In this discussion, please select an example of ceramic ware from Korea or Japan and discuss the appearance and function of the vessel. Some questions you could discuss are: 1) how does the appearance of the vessel relate to its function and 2) what is the cultural and/ or religious significance of the “rustic” natural style we see in Japanese ceramics.
